Mesotherapy

Mesotherapy uses small, superficial injections to deliver active substances into the dermis, the layer beneath the skin’s surface. Treatment involves a course of short sessions, with the product chosen for your needs. It focuses on skin quality without changing your facial shape.

Session

Twenty to thirty minutes (longer with the anaesthetic cream)

Number of sessions

A course of sessions, with the number and spacing discussed at your consultation

Areas

Face, neck and décolletage

01

What it is

With a very fine needle I carry out superficial microinjections, at closely spaced points, to take active substances into the dermis instead of leaving them on the surface. Treatment involves a course of short sessions.

Mesotherapy describes how a product is delivered, rather than a particular product. The product and purpose of treatment vary from person to person. I use authorised products and medical devices — non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid, fluid, which adds no volume — and, when needed, medicines for injectable use. After taking your medical history, I explain which product I recommend and why, before treatment begins.

Exosomes are applied to the skin immediately after microneedling; I do not inject them, while the microchannels are still open. I go into that on the Microneedling page.

Who it is for

  • Skin quality and radiance
  • Dull or dehydrated skin that feels tight
  • Preparing the skin ahead of another treatment
  • Neck and décolletage, as well as the face
  • Anyone who wants to work on the quality of the skin without changing the shape of the face

What happens during treatment

The consultation comes first: I look at your skin, take your medical history and tell you whether mesotherapy is suitable for you and with which active substances. Then you sign the informed consent form: I explain it to you myself, it is not a formality.

I cleanse and disinfect the skin. If you prefer, I apply an anaesthetic cream for about twenty minutes. Then I carry out the microinjections with a very fine needle, at closely spaced points across the whole chosen area. In all, twenty to thirty minutes; with the anaesthetic cream, about twenty minutes more.

The course: a few closely spaced sessions at the start and then periodic maintenance. We discuss the number and spacing of sessions at your consultation. The number of sessions depends on the aim and how your skin responds: I prefer to tell you that beforehand.

04

How long the effect lasts

Changes in skin quality develop gradually and are assessed at the end of the course, rather than after the first session.

How long the effect lasts depends on your skin, age, sun exposure and skincare at home. It is a maintenance treatment: it is repeated. I do not promise you a result: at the consultation I tell you what you can reasonably expect.

05

Comfort and recovery

You do feel the microinjections: they are quick, superficial pricks, and the session is short. With the anaesthetic cream the discomfort is less; the area around the eyes and the upper lip are the most sensitive. Immediately afterwards the skin is red and small raised bumps remain at the injection points, which are reabsorbed within a few hours. Small bruises may appear.

Aftercare:

  • No sauna, swimming pool or strenuous exercise that day
  • Make-up from the following day
  • Do not touch, do not rub, do not use scrubs
  • SPF 50+ sunscreen every day, reapplied, even on cloudy days
  • Acids and retinoids paused for a few days: only the products I recommend, until the skin is back to normal
06

Combining treatments

Mesotherapy works on the quality of the skin: it fits with the other treatments, and I set the intervals.

  1. 01 Microneedling Within the same plan, in separate sessions. I apply exosomes to the skin immediately after microneedling.
  2. 02 Chemical peel The peel renews the surface, while mesotherapy delivers products into the dermis beneath it. In separate sessions, not on the same day.
  3. 03 Botulinum toxin Botulinum toxin acts on muscle activity. I assess whether to include it in the same period and how to space the sessions. 250 €

If you have an important event, do not schedule the session for the day before: the raised bumps settle within a few hours, but a bruise can last a few days. Leave at least a week's margin.

Cost

I tell you the price for your treatment at the first consultation, before we begin. It depends on the active substances, on the area and on how many sessions are needed.

Frequently asked questions

How does it differ from biorevitalisation?

Both use superficial microinjections. The two names overlap, and in practice what changes is the aim of the session, not the technique. At your consultation, I explain the proposed treatment and why it is appropriate. I choose one approach for each session according to the aim of treatment.

Does it hurt?

You do feel it. They are quick pricks with a very fine needle and the session is short. If you prefer, I apply an anaesthetic cream first.

How many sessions are needed?

Treatment involves a course of sessions followed by periodic maintenance. The number and the intervals depend on your skin and on the aim: I tell you at the consultation. The number of sessions depends on the aim and how your skin responds.

Do you inject exosomes during mesotherapy?

No, I do not inject them: I apply them to the skin immediately after microneedling. You will find it all on the Microneedling page.
