01

What it is

For the lips I use hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronidase is an enzyme that can dissolve it, which I keep available at the practice. This does not make every complication reversible: any corrective treatment requires a medical assessment.

It is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid gel, a substance already present in your skin, classified as a medical device and not as a medicine. I inject it into the mucosa and the lip border.

02

Who it is for

  • Naturally thin lips
  • A lip border that has lost definition over the years
  • Differences between the two sides of the lips, or between the upper and lower lip
  • Downturned corners of the mouth that make the expression look more severe
  • Vertical lines above the upper lip
03

What happens during treatment

Before injecting I examine you and take the clinical photographs: they stay in your record and I do not publish them.

I apply an anaesthetic cream and we wait fifteen to twenty minutes; when needed, I use a deeper local anaesthetic.

I inject in small quantities, checking the symmetry as I go, and I hand you the mirror several times while I work. The full session takes twenty to forty minutes, including the anaesthetic.

How long the effect lasts

How long lip filler lasts varies from person to person. We discuss the expected duration at your consultation.

I assess the final result at fifteen days, not before: in the first few days swelling makes it difficult to judge the result.

05

Comfort and recovery

With the anaesthetic you feel pressure rather than pain.

In the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours the lips swell, sometimes a lot: swelling usually settles within three to seven days. If you have an important event, book the session at least two weeks before. Bruises can appear, more easily with a needle: they last five to seven days and can be covered with make-up.

After the session:

  • Ice at intervals in the first few hours, never in direct contact with the skin
  • Do not massage or press the lips
  • No strenuous exercise, sauna or steam room for forty-eight hours
  • No alcohol or very hot food on the first day: alcohol increases the swelling
  • Avoid flying in the following twenty-four hours
  • Make-up on the lips only after twenty-four hours

Indicative price

One 1 ml syringe is usually enough for a first session. I confirm the price at the consultation.

Frequently asked questions

How do you avoid an unnatural look?

With measured quantities and the proportions of your own face. If more volume is needed I add it in a second session: adding is always possible, removing is more complicated.

Is it completely reabsorbed?

The body breaks it down, but in some people a small amount can persist longer than expected: that is why I note in your record which product I injected, and when.
