Localised fat and cellulite

Injectable enzymes — lipase, collagenase, hyaluronidase — over a limited area of the body. This is not a weight-loss treatment or a replacement for liposuction, and it is not suitable for treating obesity. I offer a course of sessions after a medical assessment.

Course

A course of sessions, with the number and spacing agreed at your consultation

All year round

01

What it is

I treat a limited area of the body with small injections of enzymes, spread over the area to be treated. There are three enzymes, and each one works on something different:

  • Lipase — acts on localised fat: the deposit that stays even when your weight is within the normal range.
  • Collagenase — acts on the fibrous bands associated with cellulite, the bands that pull the skin downwards and give it the orange-peel appearance.
  • Hyaluronidase — acts on the material between the cells and helps drain the retained fluid that often goes with cellulite.

At the consultation I decide which enzyme to use, or which combination, after examining the area for fat, fibrous tissue, fluid retention or a combination of these.

The typical areas for this treatment: lower abdomen, flanks, inner thighs, knees.

I work only with injectables. I do not use devices: no laser, radiofrequency or cryolipolysis. If one of these technologies would be more appropriate, I explain this at your consultation and suggest where you can seek that care.

02

Who it is for

  • A limited deposit of fat that does not go down with diet and exercise
  • Cellulite with fibrosis: orange-peel skin, nodules you can feel to the touch
  • Cellulite with fluid retention: heavy legs, swelling that changes over the course of the day
  • Anyone whose weight is within or close to the normal range and who wants to work on a specific area
  • Anyone who does not want surgery for a small area
03

What happens during treatment

It always starts with an assessment consultation: I look at the area, feel it, ask about your medical history and the medicines you take. From there I decide whether the treatment is suitable for you, which enzyme to use and how many sessions to plan.

In the session I disinfect the skin and mark the area to be treated. Then I inject the enzymes with a fine needle, at several points spread over the area. The length of the session depends on the size of the area. I explain this at your consultation. You get dressed and go back to your day.

Treatment involves a course of sessions: I set the number of sessions and the interval between them at the consultation, and I can revise them during the course, depending on how the tissue responds.

04

How long the effect lasts

Results develop gradually. I assess them at the end of the course, a few weeks after the last session. The degree of change depends on the area and the tissue treated.

On localised fat the aim is to reduce the treated deposit: the response varies from person to person and is assessed at the end of the course. If your weight goes up, fat can build up again, in that area too. It is your lifestyle that maintains the result: diet, exercise and hydration.

On cellulite I tell you beforehand: it is a condition that tends to come back. The course can improve the appearance of the skin; to maintain it, I generally schedule a few top-up sessions, at intervals that depend on your case.

05

Comfort and recovery

During the injections you feel stinging and burning, both bearable: no anaesthetic is needed. In the following hours the area swells and becomes warm and tender to the touch.

In the days afterwards swelling, soreness and bruising are expected; they last a few days and then settle on their own. You can go back to work the same day.

Aftercare:

  • No strenuous exercise for twenty-four to forty-eight hours
  • No sauna, swimming pool, sea or direct sun on the area for a few days
  • Drink enough water during the days of the course
  • Do not massage or compress the area, unless I tell you to
  • If you get severe pain, increasing warmth or a fever, message me straight away

Combining treatments

Treatment for the body and face follows separate plans. If you are considering both, I arrange separate appointments and plan the intervals between them.

  1. 01 Biostimulators They work on the quality and support of the skin. A separate plan, with its own timing.
  2. 02 Botulinum toxin Botulinum toxin acts on muscle activity. I assess whether to include it in the same period and how to space the sessions. 250 €
  3. 03 Biorevitalisation Hydration and radiance of the face. A separate plan, in separate sessions.

Lifestyle is part of the treatment. Diet, exercise and hydration support the treatment: without them, improvements are smaller and do not last as long.

Cost

I tell you the price for your treatment at the first consultation, before we begin: it depends on the area and on the number of sessions planned.

Frequently asked questions

Does it make you lose weight?

No. It acts on a limited area, not on your weight. If your aim is to lose kilos, a different approach is needed, which we discuss at your consultation.

Is it an alternative to liposuction?

No. Liposuction is a surgical procedure for significant volumes. Enzymes are for a small, well-defined deposit, in someone who does not need surgery.

Does it hurt?

Stinging and burning during the injections, soreness in the days afterwards. No anaesthetic is needed.

Can I have treatment in summer?

Yes, all year round. In the days after each session avoid the sea, swimming pools and direct sun on the treated area, until the bruises have gone.
